We offer multiple volunteer opportunities, from Packet Pick Up check-in to water station management on Race Day. Get signed up below!

RFTZ 2023: Volunteer Sign-Up Form

  • Saturday, May 6: Packet Pick Up (FILLED)

  • Packet Pick Up: Help us distribute t-shirts and race necessities to all Run for the Zoo participants.

    This is held at the ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden at 2601 Central Ave. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104.

  • Saturday, May 6: Pre-Race Day Set Up

  • Set Up: Help put the finishing touches on the event area for Run for the Zoo race day! Duties may include moving water, stacking banners, hanging t-shirts, stacking boxes, among other tasks.

    We’ll start at the New Mexico BioPark Society office (1320 Iron Ave. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102) and finish in front of the ABQ BioPark Zoo.

  • Sunday, May 7: Water Volunteer

  • Water Volunteers: Help us keep runners and walkers hydrated at one of the water stations below! This volunteer option is great for groups!

    1. North Tingley: FILLED
    • Time: 6:45 - 11:00 a.m. or until the last runner passes
    • Location: Central Ave. and Tingley Dr.
    • Parking: ABQ BioPark Aquarium

    2. 2nd Street:
    • Time: 7:00 - 11:00 a.m. or until the last runner passes
    • Location: 2nd Street, south of Bridge Blvd.
    • Parking available at the water station

    3. Half Marathon Turn Around: FILLED
    • Time: 7:00 - 10:00 a.m. or the until last runner passes
    • Location: Rio Bravo and Poco Loco (west of 2nd Street)
    • Parking available at water station.

    4. Kit Carson:
    • Time: 6:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. or until the last runner passes
    • Location: Kit Carson and Alcalde Pl. SW
    • Parking available at CABQ Rio Grande Pool lot (14th St. & Iron Ave.) or in neighborhood OUTSIDE course

    5. Zoo Asia Station:
    • Time: 9:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or until last runner passes (This group will ride the shuttle from the ABQ BioPark Aquarium lot to Zoo)
    • Location: Inside Zoo near future Asia expansion
    • Parking available at ABQ BioPark Aquarium, take shuttle to Zoo

    6. 15th and Park: FILLED
    • Time: 7 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or until last runner passes
    • Location: 15th St. and Park Ave.
    • Parking available on 15th St. or in neighboring areas, OUTSIDE course

  • Sunday, May 7: Zoo Crew (FILLED)

  • Zoo Crew: Be part of the action by cheering on runners, passing out shirts, helping with medals, etc.

    Areas specifically seeking volunteers include:
    • Volunteer T-Shirt Distribution
    • Awards Area
    • Merchandise Tent
    • Floaters – help us relieve volunteers and staff who need a break!

  • Sunday, May 7: Clean-Up Zoo Crew

  • Clean-Up Crew: Please help us; we’re tired at the end of Race Day! Ride the shuttle from the ABQ BioPark Aquarium to the Zoo and check out our vendors, get your volunteer shirt, and hang out until 12:00 p.m. when we meet at the Info Tent to tear down Run and pack up the fun! We’ll move tables, pick up chairs, and load it up into a truck. Then, we’ll head back to the New Mexico BioPark Society office (1320 Iron Ave. SW) and unload it all there! After that, enjoy the Zoo and take the train back to your ride at the Aquarium!

  • After submitting your volunteer form, a Run for the Zoo representative will provide specific instructions, event details and location directions (or map) approximately 10 days prior to your registered shift.
