We offer multiple volunteer opportunities, from Packet Pick Up check-in to water station management on Race Day. Get signed up below!

RFTZ 2026: Volunteer Sign-Up Form

  • Volunteer Requirement:

    Volunteers must be a minimum of 14 years old with adult supervision (one adult for every four teens). Volunteers 18 and older do not require adult supervision.

  • Friday, May 1: Packet Pick Up

    Packet Pick Up: Help us check in participants, distribute t-shirts and race necessities to all Run for the Zoo participants. This is held at the GAAR Event Center at 1635 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.

    Packet Pick Up: Help us check in participants, distribute t-shirts and race necessities to all Run for the Zoo participants. This is held at the GAAR Event Center at 1635 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.

  • Saturday, May 2: Packet Pick Up - Clean Up

    Packet Pick Up: Help us pack up after the fun has been had! Let's box up t-shirts, organize race necessities tear down tables, and return the GAAR building back to its beautiful space. We will load everything into our van and you can head home for rest and relaxation! This is held at the GAAR Event Center at 1635 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.   • Saturday, May 2: Pre-Event Set Up

    Set Up: Help put the finishing touches on the event area for Run for the Zoo race day! Duties may include moving water, stacking banners, hanging t-shirts, stacking boxes, among other tasks. We’ll start at the New Mexico BioPark Society office (1320 Iron Ave. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102) and finish in front of the ABQ BioPark Zoo.

  • Sunday, May 3: Water Volunteer

  • Water Volunteers: Help us keep runners and walkers hydrated at one of the water stations below! This volunteer option is great for groups!

    1. North Tingley:
    • Time: 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. or until the last runner passes
    • Location: Central Ave. and Tingley Dr.
    • Parking: ABQ BioPark Aquarium


    2. South Tingley:
    • Time: 6:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. or until the last runner passes
    • Location: 2nd Street, south of Bridge Blvd.
    • Parking available at the water station


    3. 2nd Street:
    • Time: 6:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. or until the last runner passes
    • Location: 2nd Street, south of Bridge Blvd.
    • Parking available at the water station


    4. Half Marathon Turnaround:
    • Time: 6:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. or the until last runner passes
    • Location: Rio Bravo and Poco Loco (west of 2nd Street)
    • Parking available at water station.


    5. Kit Carson:
    • Time: 6:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. or until the last runner passes
    • Location: Kit Carson and Alcalde Pl. SW
    • Parking available at CABQ Rio Grande Pool lot (14th St. & Iron Ave.) or in neighborhood OUTSIDE course


    6. 16th & Park Ave:
    • Time: 7 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or until last runner passes
    • Location: 15th St. and Park Ave.
    • Parking available on 16th St. or in neighboring areas, OUTSIDE course


    7. Zoo Asia Station:
    • Time: 9:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or until last runner passes
    • Location: Inside Zoo near Asia
    • Parking TBD

    Zoo Crew: Be part of the action by cheering on runners, passing out shirts, helping with medals, etc. Help us relieve volunteers and staff who need a break!

  • (Must be at least 14 yrs old w/ adult supervision, 18 w/o supervision)
  • After submitting your volunteer form, a Run for the Zoo representative will provide specific instructions, event details and location directions (or map) approximately 10 days prior to your registered shift.
